Medical Affairs Professional in Rheumatology

For one of our clients, a pharmaceutical company in Brussels, we are looking for a Medical Advisor Rheumatology.

You are reporting to the medical director in Belgium and part of the cross-functional rheumatology team. There are currently 2 marketed products in this domain. New treatments and new indications are in development.

You are the interface between the company and KOL's or clinical experts to provide advanced disease state data and to exchange scientific and clinical information. You develop & implement the medically owned projects.
The internal focus is to provide scientific expertise to the rheumatology brand team and contribute with strategic/tactical thinking. You will work together with the medical advisor rheumatology and liaise with the international medical affairs department and the local clinical trial operations department.

Brand Team Support

  • Serve as a key medical point of contact for the brand team:
    • Contribute clinical, scientific and strategic input to support the cross functional team
    • Medical launch support
    • Contribute to the development of local brand plans & medical strategies
    • By offering scientific and creative input, contribute to the development of promotional materials
    • Effectively communicate and transfer knowledge of the therapeutic available solutions environment, the clinical landscape and relevant medical and scientific information
    • Oversee the collation and analysis of customer information to drive understanding and insights
  • Support the medical training needs of internal business partners such as sales and marketing
  • Review and medical approval of promotional materials
  • Support the planning & implementation of symposia and educational meetings/events with HCP’s
  • Provide recommendations for TL’s and other external parties to serve as consultants, faculty
  • Knowledge of and compliance with local laws and regulations, and global policies and procedures, compliance guidelines with respect to data dissemination, promotional materials and interactions with external health care professionals.

Customer Support & Experience

  • Respond to external customer questions and needs, including escalations by Med Info & sales in accordance with company-wide requirements for responding to unsolicited requests for information
  • The local coordination of activities and engagement of Thought Leaders

  • Take the lead in organization of advisory boards
  • Develop and maintain collaborations and relationships with relevant professional societies
  • Develop and deliver scientific, educational, and promotional presentations
  • Take a leadership role in Medical to deliver positive customer experiences
  • Attend local and EU congresses

Scientific Expertise and Medical Affairs Delivery

  • Develop and/or contribute to the affiliate / therapeutic area medical plan and strategies
  • Support data analysis and the development of slide sets and publications (abstracts, posters, manuscripts)
  • Critically read and evaluate relevant medical literature to be current in the TA
  • Keep up to date with medical and other scientific developments relevant to the product or portfolio
  • Be aware of current trends, issues and projections for clinical practice and access
  • Contribute as a scientific and medical expert to activities and deliverables of the reimbursement organization, in particular giving clinical input and insight to develop payer partnership programs and defend the product value
  • Providing scientific training for sales and marketing personel
  • Identify and communicate local/regional research needs and collaborate with other regions and the global Development and Medical Affairs teams, Global Patient Outcomes/Real World Experience, and PAA teams to ensure Phase 3, 3b, and 4 (and Phase I and II where applicable} clinical programs meet the needs of local/regional customers (for example, through global medical planning processes).
  • Review IIT proposals and be the liaison between TL and the company

Minimum Qualification Requirements:

  • Medical degree (Board certified) or Master degree in health sciences
  • Knowledge on immunology, experience in rheumatology is a requirement!
  • Experience in medical affairs, clinical operations (CRA) or at the customer interface
  • Strong interpersonal skills, communication, team work, project management and pro-activity
  • Presentation skills
  • Coaching skills
  • Commercial/business acumen and contribution
  • Ability to ‘translate’ scientific data into meaningful and clear content for customer communications and engagement
  • Ability to effectively partner cross-functionally including Marketing and sales, strong leadership
  • High workload capacity including ability to manage and prioritize broad deliverables of a complex nature
  • Proficiency in computer skills and database entry
  • Continual compliance with all procedural requirements
  • Demonstrated success in self-managing priorities and multi-tasking projects
  • Ability to work effectively and share information within a team environment
  • Expertise in literature identification and evaluation
  • Fluent in French, Dutch and English
