Interesting position for an assistant scientist DSP (Downstream processing) with experience in farma (UF/DF, chromatography)

Job Description

The process development department at Janssen Vaccines & Prevention consists of a USP and a DSP department and is responsible for the development of scalable, pharmaceutical-grade production processes for viral vaccines using mammalian cell lines as a production platform. Novel technologies arh e used to make sure that the processes are safe, reliable, scalable and cost-effective, so that the vaccines can be produced in large quantities at low costs. The developed production processes are transferred into GMP production facilities for the production of clinical batches and scaled-up for commercial production. All activities are performed in close collaboration with other departments.

Responsibilities

  • Under limited supervision, but as part of a team you will plan, prepare and execute scientific studies;
  • Typical unit operations include filtration, chromatography and UF/DF.
  • Performing experiments on pilot scale or in reduced-scale models.

Requirements

  • BSc, with 3 years of experience or MLO with 5 years of experience in a relevant discipline like biotechnology or pharmacy;
  • Relevant experience with purification techniques, DSP, chromatography, ultrafiltration diafiltration;
  • Hands on mentality, this is a Lab-based function, the ideal candidate enjoys doing practical work;
  • PhD candidates are considered overqualified and will not be considered;
  • English is a Must, Dutch is considered a plus;
  • Valid Dutch work permit is a must;

Benefits

  • Contract: initially a project of 1 year via Oxford;
  • Perspective: longer-term future of this position is unclear due to no clarity of workload of the department in 2021. In case of strong performance and budget and future workload permitting, extension will be considered;
  • Salary: €2500- €3200 gross monthly based on a full-time position;
  • Holiday: 25+12;
  • Working hours: full-time, 32 hours discussable, with a mandatory presence on Mondays / Tuesday / Thursdays;
  • Region: Leiden.
