Scientist Protein Engineering for a Research & Development driven biotech company in the Utrecht area, where you will be working on in silico and in vitro design of biological protein based pharmaceutical products!

Job Description

As Scientist Protein Engineering you will work in a cutting edge R&D team that focusses on developing new biological, protein based products such as antigens, peptides and vaccines! In you role you will focus on structural biology and bioinformatics, performing in silico experiments using various modelling programs such as Alphafold, to help you design novel protein pharmaceuticals. You will also test newly developed products in in vitro experiments. It is a fulltime and long term position!

Responsibilities

  • Use your knowledge of bioinformatics, protein engineering, and data science to design protein products;
  • Work with programs like Alphafold to model proteins in silico;
  • Perform protein based assays to perform in vitro preclinical research on novel antigens and peptides;
  • Use your knowledge of both biological and bioinformatics research to strengthen the team;

Profile

  • PhD in life science, bioinformatics, AI, or data science;
  • Extensive knowledge of protein design, structural biology and protein modelling;
  • Experience with Alphafold or similar programs is a plus;
  • Knowledge of antigens and vaccines is a must;
  • Basic knowledge of in vitro immunological assays;
  • Good communication;
  • Pro-active and driven;

Benefits

  • Contract: Long term with a start through Oxford;
  • Salary indication: €4000 tot €6000 based on experience;
  • Working hours: 32 to 40 hours per week
