Introduction

We are seeking an experienced GC Chemical Analyst to join a specialized chromatography team in the Barendrecht area. This role focuses on high‑precision contaminant and residue analysis within complex food and feed matrices. You will work with advanced instrumentation in an environment that values expertise, autonomy and collaboration. This position is ideal for a seasoned chromatographer who wants to apply deep technical knowledge while contributing directly to product safety and regulatory compliance.

Job Description

As a Gas Chromatography specialist, you will independently perform routine and advanced GC analyses on oils, fats, nuts, spices and related products. You will quantify pesticide residues, mineral oil fractions, and other regulated contaminants. The role requires strong chromatographic insight, hands‑on troubleshooting ability, and responsibility for instrument performance, workflow optimization and data integrity.

Responsibilities

  • Execute complex GC analyses on food and feed matrices, including pesticide and mineral oil residue determinations.
  • Ensure full adherence to ISO 17025 and internal quality procedures.
  • Interpret chromatographic data with precision and validate results reliably.
  • Maintain, calibrate and troubleshoot GC systems and supporting equipment.
  • Manage laboratory consumables, standards and instrument inventory.
  • Support method optimization, parameter development and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with experienced analysts to maintain consistent analytical quality.

Requirements

  • Completed HBO or MLO‑4 in analytical chemistry, laboratory technology or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3 years of hands‑on GC experience, with strong chromatographic interpretation skills.
  • In‑depth understanding of GC principles, detector behavior and troubleshooting.
  • Experience in food or feed analysis is an advantage.
  • LC experience is a strong plus.
  • Ability to work independently in a high‑throughput, accuracy‑driven lab setting.
  • Strong communication skills; professional proficiency in Dutch and English.
