Scientist Neuroscience / Gene Editing Technology

For a young company working on cutting edge molecular technologies we are looking for an experienced Senior Scientist with a background in Neuroscience

Job description

Our client is a growing biotechnology company that focuses on the development of medicines against incurable diseases. The company has a strong research focus, with more than 80% of employees working in or around the laboratories with state-of-the-art technologies . To strengthen their growing team they are looking for an experienced senior scientist with an expertise in neuroscience / therapeutics. You will have a leading role in their innovative research organisation and are expected to contribute knowledge and expertise.

Responsibilities

  • Designs and execution of relevant experiments;
  • Develops long-term project strategies and aligns plans accordingly;
  • understand patent strategies, and how this may impact research strategies;
  • Responsible for ensuring the technical/scientific quality of biomarker assays, and/or the selection of drug candidates ;
  • Is the subject matter expert, and coaches coach other scientists on their projects;
  • Monitors the scientific quality of outsourced activities;

Profile

  • a PhD degree in Neuroscience, molecular biology or life science;
  • At least 5 years' post doc experience in (pre-)clinical research and biotechnological industry;
  • Expertise in neuroscience therapeutic area, neurodegenerative cell and mouse models, and/or with antisense oligonucleotides is essential;
  • Solid understanding of patent strategies, and how this may impact research strategies;
  • The ability to multitask and to function effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Fluent in English or Dutch, both is preferred;
  • Valid Dutch work permit is a must;

Benefits

  • Contract: permanent position (start with 1 year contract directly at the company;
  • Salary indication: from €3800 - €5700 gross monthly based on education / experience;
  • Holidays: 25;
  • Working hours: 40 hours per week (part-time can be discussed);
  • Location: Leiden;
