Job Description
Our client is a major international player within the energy and chemicals sector, operating one of the largest and most complex integrated manufacturing sites in Europe. The facility processes a wide range of feedstocks and produces essential fuels and chemical components that supply both domestic and global markets. The site is known for its technical depth, operational complexity, and continuous focus on modernization and environmental performance.
In this role, you will function as a subject matter expert within the laboratory team. You will act as skill guardian for key analytical techniques, support the implementation of new technological developments, and independently perform complex analytical assignments. You will ensure that non‑routine laboratory activities provide accurate, efficient, and fit‑for‑purpose support to operational units. You will also play a significant role in training and coaching staff while maintaining oversight of method quality, efficiency, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Operate as the technical guardian for analytical methods and techniques within your workgroup.
- Initiate and support the implementation of new laboratory developments and methodologies.
- Perform complex analytical projects, including preparing project proposals and evaluating feasibility.
- Challenge and refine project proposals to ensure all deliverables are fit for purpose.
- Drive continuous improvements related to method quality, efficiency, and reliability.
- Ensure all non‑routine laboratory work is aligned with operational needs and meets required standards.
- Monitor analytical developments within industry standards and relevant regulatory frameworks.
- Provide technical training, coaching, and guidance to laboratory personnel.
Requirements
- 5-10 years of relevant experience within a similar industrial or laboratory setting.
- Strong communication skills in English; Dutch proficiency is likely required or considered an advantage.
- Understanding of ISO 17025, NEN 14181, and /orCEN/TS 15675 standards.
- Solid experience with analytical techniques such as AAS, NIR, ICP, GC, GC‑FID, FTIR, or comparable.
- Experience with emission measurements and sampling techniques.
- Ability to contribute to method development and innovation within the laboratory environment.
- Ability to work independently and within multidisciplinary teams.
