Are you an expert in the field of plant pathology / biostatistics and do you have experience working on complex problems on a scientist level ? Then we have a great opportunity for you, where you will play a leading role in the technical innovation within disease monitoring in crops.

Job description

As a scientist you will work with several cross-functional team in the development of novel disease monitoring techniques. You will have a crucial role in developing & maintaining a data analysis platform to support large-scale epidemiological predictions.Within this role there is a strong emphasis on biostatistics en project management. Dueto the highly collaboratove and international nature of this role, excellent communication & project management skills are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Leading several complex scientific projects within the field of plant pathology / plant epidemiology;
  • Developing a data analysis platform using biostatistics to support large-scale epidemiological predictions;
  • Developing novel and effective methods for monitoring and risk assessment of emerging pathogens;
  • Improve R&D and commercial strategy based on the gained insights together with project leads;
  • Training peers within the team as well as coaching extended team members in the area of technical expertise;

Profile

  • A minimum a Master or PhD degree in plant biology (pathology / epidemiology / biostatistics);
  • At least 4 years of work experience within plant pathology, preferably hands-on experience in biostatistics;
  • Broad expertise in disease epidemiology using traditional disease modeling within R / Python or SPSS;
  • Demonstrated creativity in problem solving and ability to lead change;
  • Outstanding analytical and communication skills;
  • Strong initiative and results orientation;
  • Only candidates with a valid Dutch work permit are eligible, other applications will not be considered;

Benefits

  • Employment: long term contract via Oxford Global Resources;
  • Salary indication: from € 5000 to € 6000 gross monthly based on experience level;
  • Working hours: 40 hours per week;
  • Holidays: 24;
  • Extra benefits: yearly bonus scheme based on company result & individual performance (upwards to 18%);
