Job description
For our client region Tessenderlo we are looking for a QC/ QA Lab supervisor. This person supervises the laboratories at Tessenderlo/ Beringen, Plants to guarantee their short and long-term continuity through the correct staffing, skills and equipment availability, Provides support to the various Departments to ensure customer satisfaction and product quality are maintained or improved.

Responsibilities

  • Compliance & safety: The QC Lab Supervisor assures his team is fully compliant with all legislation, regulations, policies, procedures and work instructions. He/she promotes a safe work environment and adheres to all company policies and safety requirements.
  • People management: Ensures that competences, skills and know-how of all the team members are developed and applied to the best advantage of both the company and the individuals. The QC Lab Supervisor fosters an environment for self-development, assigns appropriate resources and plans the team members' development. He/she provides direction and framework for setting the team objectives, evaluates his/her team, performs regular performance appraisals and proposes salary increases of his/her direct reports. The QC Lab Supervisor promotes a diversity-friendly work environment.
  • Work planning / allocation: He/she is responsible for the development and implementation of the necessary work schedules and ad hoc assignments for the lab technicians at the Tessenderlo and Beringen Plants in the short and medium term, so that continuity in the delivery of analyses can be guaranteed.
  • Budgeting: He/she takes responsibility for delivering a set budget for his/her part of the organization. He/she monitors and reports budget progress, taking suitable corrective action if necessary.
  • Installation, maintenance and repairs: To guarantee quality assurance continuity in analyses, the QC Lab Supervisor ensures that the equipment and lab environment at the Beringen and Tessenderlo Plant remain in perfect condition through remedial and preventive maintenance, the drawing up of suitable maintenance contracts and accuracy follow-up through SPC and calibration methods and the timely replacement of equipment.
  • Quality: The Lab Supervisor ensures that the necessary procedures are written, maintained and implemented within the ISO9001/14001/18001 standards, with a view to delivering high-quality products at all times. He/she takes part in decision-making on off spec end products. He/she adjusts data in LIMS in consultation with, and approval of the Manager. The QC Lab Supervisor serves as an internal auditor. He/she takes part in Specialty Chemical Spec Committee conference calls.
  • Improvement/innovation:He/she identifies shortcomings and proposes improvements to existing processes, systems and procedures with a view to the continuous improvement and efficient operation of laboratories. In that regards he/she delivers plans for improvement projects and implements these within his/her responsibilities and with optimal cooperation within the Department and with the other Departments concerned
  • Client & Customer management (internal & external): The QC Lab Supervisor provides maximum support to the organization. Within the limits of the Laboratory the he/she provides satisfactory services to internal departments (e.g. Production, Sales, Logistics, Maintenance, R&D, QEHSS etc.) and provides the necessary support to external customers to establish or maintain the best possible relationship.

Requirements

  • Master degree in Chemistry or equivalent through experience
  • At least 5 to 12 years of experience in a lab environment in the chemical/process industry
  • Experience of supervising and directing people
  • Experience with LIMS
  • In-depth knowledge of analytical chemistry and IT systems
  • Good knowledge of Dutch and English (written and spoken)
  • Computer skills: MS Office, lab related software applications
  • Existing right to work in Europe is required
