We are looking for a researcher in the field of phytopathology where you will be involved in the design, execution and reporting of various scientific experiments.
Job Description
Our client specializes in the breeding, production and sale of hybrid vegetable seeds such as tomato, cucumber, bell pepper, melon, eggplant, etc.
Your key responsibility as a researcher in plant pathology would be to support a cutting-edge project that aims to incorporate automated phenotyping for vegetable plant diseases. Other tasks may include helping with any other pathology-related activities and projects aimed at enhancing pathogen and pest resistance in vegetable crops.
Responsibilities
- Regular planning and processing of phenotypic data for a variety of bioassays
- Overseeing the operation of cutting-edge plant imaging equipment, including data collection and extraction.
- Assist with image data processing and image analysis using Python.
- Maintain a close eye on the project's progress and provide regular reports to the project manager.
- Contact with a number of stakeholders and support groups on a daily basis, including project team members and greenhouse research employees.
Requirements
- In possession of a HLO/WO degree (Bsc or Msc) in Crop Science, Plant Breeding, Biology or related field of study.
- Knowledge and experience with plant pathology
- Have a desire to attain applied research experience.
- An excellent team player with good communication skills.
- Computer proficiency, experience with Python is a plus.
- Able to work very accurate and deliver high quality results
- Fluency in English is required, Dutch is a plus.
- Having your own transport is recommended as the location is difficult to reach by public transport
