Job Description
Our client requires an experienced Industrial Engineer to join their team. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Engineering, you will be responsible for managing the transformational initiative to reduce lead time and to identify and implement process improvements in all areas of the manufacturing process.
Responsibilities
- As a technical leader within the Industrialization team, you will promote a lean engineering approach and ensure robust and scalable industrialisation practices from early concept through to full production
- Work closely with manufacturing process owners from DFAM (Design for Additive Manufacturing), Additive manufacturing, CNC, Finishing, Inspection, Clean, packaging, labelling and sterilization to deliver innovative solutions
- Portfolio Management: anticipate the impact and integration of new products into the Production System
- Establish standard work and process times based on direct observation and measurement, detailed work content analysis and engineering time studies
- Lead Takt Time and Capacity Analysis-Calculate takt time and perform capacity analysis to define resource requirements
- Identify and reduce cycle time variation across stations to improve throughput
- Create and maintain current and future state value stream maps whilst analysing flows to identify bottlenecks, waste, and improvement opportunities
- Monitor & improve lean metrics (lead time, changeover time, inventory levels, etc.)
- Lead multiple Kaizen Events around improving site performance and KPIs.
- Identify root causes of issues, determine potential solutions, and evaluate them against requirements
- Develop a customer-focused CI framework that documents and monitors performances
- Drive the development, assessment, recommendations, and implementation of continuous improvement/re-engineering initiatives to simplify processes, eliminate waste, reduce operational risk and achieve cost efficiencies in the manufacturing process
- Train, coach, and mentor designated teams and individuals within the business on Lean concepts and support the business
- Partners with local management to define relevant process KPI's including ownership and variable that serve as the KPI inputs
- Support development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering or equivalent
- 6 or more years of engineering and lean manufacturing experience
- Certification in Lean Six Sigma (Green or Black Belt)
- Proven experience with Value Stream Mapping, time and motion studies, work content graphs, line balancing, simulation modelling, and work measurement techniques
- Strong analytical skills with proficiency in tools such as Excel, Minitab, Power BI, and AutoCAD
- Proven track record of working in a team-based environment
- Production System deployment experience
- Experience working in a highly regulated industry
- Experience using ERP systems (Oracle preferred) and/or Power BI
- Knowledge of Industry 4.0 technologies and smart manufacturing concepts
- Operations Engineering & NPI (New Product Introduction) experience with orthopaedics or the medical device industry
- Innovative thinker - should be able to envisage new and better ways of doing things
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate engineering principals to all levels within the organization through oral and written means
- Excellent analytical skills, ability to plan, organise and implement concurrent tasks
- Experience in an FDA regulated or regulated industry is required
- Demonstrates strong financial acumen.
