Electrical Systems Engineer (ANU)

Temporary electrical systems engineer

12 months. Onsite ANU in Wessling, Germany

German residency or Blue card permit essential

Your role and your team:

  • We are looking for outstanding Electrical System Engineers to join our innovative team that will shape the future of urban e-mobility. This position will contribute, as part of an integrated cross-functional team, to the energy systems architecture, design, certification and delivery. This will include the development, integration and testing of the battery system and high voltage distribution system..

Your Day to Day:

  • Create specifications of battery modules and packs with respect to energy and power requirements, safety, and technological limits
  • Create specifications of innovative power distribution with focus on network/load switching and protection concepts up to 1k VDC
  • Network and component modelling and simulation, especially regarding electrothermal and transient behaviour
  • Contribute to a better understanding of Li-ion cell and battery performance to shape and design the best-suited battery system
  • Close cooperation with battery management engineers and avionics engineers regarding design, interfaces and control
  • Collaborate to develop innovative tests to study battery properties and behaviour under abuse conditions
  • Develop tests to ensure compliance of battery performance, safety and regulations
  • Be able to work on ad-hoc related tasks provided by management

Your Profile:

  • M.Sc./Eng. or PhD in engineering, physics, chemistry or a related field required
  • Min. 5 years of professional or academic experience in electrical engineering including aircraft/vehicle level experience required
  • Strong knowledge of standards and good practices in electrical wiring, printed circuits, EMC, bonding, insulation, and related electrotechnical components and materials beneficial
  • Advanced knowledge of Li-ion battery and energy storage technology beneficial
  • Practical experience testing of any commercially available Li-ion cell formats beneficial
  • Experience in working with ARP4754, DO311, DO160 beneficial
  • MATLAB and mathematical modelling of Li-ion battery designs beneficial
  • High level of self-reliance with the ability to work in a team, as well as autonomously required
  • Target-oriented, driven workstyle with analytic problem-solving skills required
  • Fluent English language skills are essential, fluent German or any other language beneficial
