For our partner Nutricia Research in Utrecht, we are looking for a Product Development & Design Manager to strengthen the Specialized Nutrition R&I team in Utrecht.
In this role, you will be responsible for the end-to-end design and development of consumer-centric products that meet nutritional, scientific, regulatory and cost requirements. You will work closely with the Specialized Nutrition R&I team and act as a key technological expert within cross-functional project teams.
This position is based at the modern R&D site in Utrecht, known for its open, glass-designed building, excellent facilities and collaborative working environment. You will be part of an international, knowledge-driven organization that strongly values learning, teamwork and personal development.
You will work 2-3 days per week on site in Utrecht (more when required). Hybrid working is possible, but regular presence at the site is essential.
Responsibilities
As Product Development & Design Manager, you will:
Lead efficient and effective product design and development activities to support category growth within Specialized Nutrition.
Act as the R&I technological expert within cross-functional project teams.
Ensure high-quality qualification and validation of new formulations.
Apply "right-by-design" principles, perform risk assessments and implement mitigation actions.
Ensure complete, accurate and compliant technical documentation throughout the development process.
Work hands-on in the lab and pilot plant on formulation and product development activities.
Execute product development projects with a deep dive into product portfolios, data and specifications.
Collaborate closely with stakeholders across R&I, Quality, Regulatory and other departments.
Profile
We are looking for an experienced product developer with a strong technological background and a hands-on mindset, who enjoys working in a collaborative and international R&D environment.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
An MSc or PhD in Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Food Technology, Bioprocessing, Nutrition Science or a related field.
Minimum 2 years of experience in Product Development or R&D (starters are not suitable).Experience within Specialized Nutrition is strongly preferred.
A solid understanding of Quality and Food Safety standards, qualification and validation processes.
An innovative mindset with strong attention to detail and proficiency in product design tools.
Basic understanding of project management principles.
Strong stakeholder management skills and proven experience in cross-functional collaboration.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to build productive working relationships.

Terms of Employment
Contract: Detachment for 12 months (projects are expected to run for ~3 years, with yearly evaluation).
Salary indication: €4,400 - €5,800 gross per month
Working hours: Full-time (40 hours per week).

Start date: As soon as possible; candidates with notice period or relocation time are welcome.
