A leading biotechnology organization in South Holland is seeking an experienced EHS Specialist to support safe, compliant, and sustainable operations. This is a hands-on specialist role within a regulated environment, offering close collaboration with operations, laboratories, and engineering teams.
Role description
In this role, you will support the implementation and continuous improvement of EHS practices across laboratory and manufacturing environments. You will act as a key partner for operations, providing practical guidance on safety, risk management, and compliance.
Your focus will be on operational support combined with improvement initiatives. Key activities include:
Supporting safe operations within GMP manufacturing areas, laboratories, and supporting facilities
Translating EHS requirements into clear, practical procedures and work instructions
Supporting risk assessments for processes, equipment changes, and projects
Contributing to EHS documentation, training materials, and site communication
You will work closely with operators, engineers, and EHS colleagues, while aligning with global or regional EHS standards.
Responsibilities
Act as a primary EHS contact for assigned areas or projects
Support and facilitate incident investigations and corrective actions
Perform and support risk assessments (process, chemical, biosafety, ergonomic, facility changes)
Support development and improvement of EHS procedures and guidance
Contribute to EHS training and awareness activities
Support internal and external audits and inspections
Monitor EHS performance and support continuous improvement initiatives
Collaborate with operations, engineering, QA, and EHS stakeholders
Requirements
Minimum 3-8 years' experience in an EHS role within biotech, pharma, or manufacturing environments
Relevant education in Safety (e.g. MVK/HVK), Industrial Hygiene, or a technical/scientific discipline (or extensive experience)
Knowledge of EHS risks in regulated (GMP) environments
Experience with risk assessments and practical mitigation measures
Comfortable working in an operational setting and engaging with shop floor and lab teams
Clear communicator with good documentation skills
Fluent in English (Dutch is a plus)

Location: South Holland, Netherlands
Start: by mutual agreement
Working hours: 32-40 hours per week
Salary indication: €3500,- to €6000,- depending on experience
Work model: On-site / hybrid, depending on site requirements
Contract: Start through Oxford Global Resources with outlook on permanent contract
