Job Description

As a Safety Officer Organic Chemistry you will work for a chemical R&D company in the Friesland region, where polymer based chemical products are developed and produced. In this position you use your knowledge of organic chemistry and polymer science to make sure production and research & development goes according to national and international safety guidelines. You also verify if chemical classification is in order, asses toxicological properties with toxicology teams, communicate with Production, R&D and QC, and work on digitization projects and data science. Responsibilities

  • Assess the safety of chemical reactions of production;
  • Create safety data sheets, data assessment;
  • Make sure everything in R&D and production goes according to current safety guidelines;
  • Keep up to date on new developments on EU regulations;
  • Work on digitization projects;

Profile

  • BSc or MSc (or PhD) in chemistry, especially organic chemistry;
  • Experience with safety assessments, safety data sheets, and current safety guidelines;
  • Knowledge of polymers and their mechanisms is a must;
  • Hands-on attitude in a hands-off environment;
  • Pro-active, accurate and driven;
