Job Description

As a Packaging Technology Expert, you will play a key role in identifying and implementing packaging cost optimization opportunities. You'll collaborate with internal stakeholders (Manufacturing, Procurement, R&I) and external partners (suppliers) to develop and qualify packaging solutions that meet Danone's high standards for quality, safety, sustainability, and consumer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Identify packaging cost optimization opportunities and assess technical feasibility.
  • Develop packaging technical briefs that balance cost, timing, quality, food safety, sustainability, and consumer needs.
  • Lead suppliers in defining packaging specifications aligned with Danone's requirements.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams to assess risks and define mitigation plans.
  • Execute packaging qualification plans, including lab, plant, and transport validations.
  • Provide hands-on support in troubleshooting and solving technical packaging issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Packaging, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Experience in packaging development within Food, Pharma, or FMCG industries.
  • Familiarity with various packaging types (flexible, plastic, metal, paper, beverage carton, barrier, corrugated) is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a collaborative mindset.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
  • Experience working in cross-functional and international environments.
  • Proficiency in MS Office tools (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, Copilot).
  • Availability to work from the Utrecht office at least 2 days per week.
  • Willingness to travel 10-15% across EU factories and supplier locations.

Offer

  • Contract: 12 months
  • full-time employment 40 per week
  • Salary indication: €4300 - €5000 gross per month
